Too Cold Outside to Jog? Motivate Yourself!
12/02/2010
Whether it’s the freezing weather outside or the day at work that has taken its toll on you, it can sometimes be hard to find the motivation to continue a healthy living regime. Thankfully, there are a number of things you can do to remedy this. Most important, perhaps, is to try not to feel guilty if you do fall behind or get distracted – anything is better than nothing.
Adapting Training
In addition to using indoor training equipment such as Treadmills and Cross Trainers, you can also substitute your usual jogging session for a cardio workout using just a skipping rope. Alternately, weight training doesn’t require you to leave your bedroom and can burn calories as well as build muscle. Being able to adapt your training to your environment is a handy skill. If you usually walk, try an indoor track such as a shopping centre. Of course, you could always just put your favourite CD on and dance ‘til you drop too!
Motivational Advice
It’s easy to lose focus, but you can help to avoid this by implementing certain things into your routine. Firstly, you should keep your goals small and realistic and then climb your way up, using them as milestones. Other methods can include working out with a partner, keeping each other in check. Watching TV, playing a computer game, reading a book or listening to music whilst working out can help you to enjoy and pass the time. Finally, don’t push yourself too hard or you’ll end up resenting your routine – it’s important that you look forward to and enjoy your workout time.
