Lazy Cats to be Hooked up to Treadmills

16/07/2010

Following the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne’s, plans to cut spending, taxpayers have been asked to suggest money-saving ideas on the Treasury’s website.

Along with suggestions for a ‘windfall tax on anyone called Steve’ and ‘MP housing allowances to be replaced by tents’, one taxpayer ventured the idea that cats should be forced to spend one hour a day on Electric Treadmills.

Connected to the National grid, they’d be able to generate 12.5 gigawatts of electricity a day. Any cat that refused to comply would be subject to a statutory warning and then a fine. The taxpayer supports the plan by stating that cats ‘for most of the day loll around on sofas’.

No word back yet from George Osborne as to whether or not these changes are likely to be made. Maybe even all home treadmill owners might get some tax relief for being green.
